Citroen C1 (2005-Onwards) review and running costs.

 


Fantastic little City car designed by Donato Coco and developed as part of the B-Zero project by PSA Citroën in a joint-venture.

Launched at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2005 the car has an ultra-frugal 68bhp three-cylinder engine and it drives through a fluent five-speed gearbox. Also available  is a 55bhp four-cylinder diesel and an automated manual gearbox called SensoDrive.

The suspension is by MacPherson struts in front, and a twist-beam axle at the rear. Brakes are discs front, drums rear. Model range comes in 3/5 door form.

FOR
Fun to drive and handles well. Cheap to run. Roomy for a small car. Group 1 insurance, Good Euro NCAP score. 2012 model emits just 99g/km CO2.
AGAINST
Some clutch and water pump failures more common on 2005 - 2009 Reports of water leaks. All glass tailgate, Small boot space.
