Paris Car Show 2012
Citroen rolls out the new C4-L for a global premiere at the Paris Car Show.
Citroen has gone all out to target the world's most lucrative market with some 20 or so million sales per year. With a Chinese market that can only grow with such a huge working population of non car owners they have pitched the C4-L in the highly competitive compact saloon market segment. The Citroen C4-L was designed by the new PSA Style Centre in Shanghai. The platform is the same of the C4 hatchback with the wheelbase increase by some 2.65 m and it's scheduled to hit the Chinese market at the end of the year. According to the Citroen, the C4 L will be produced in each of the zones where it will be sold, including Wuhan, China by the end of 2012, and Kaluga, Russia in the first half of 2013.
The C4 L will offer a lounge-like rear compartment with wraparound seats, backrests inclined to 29° and headrests designed for added comfort; it will also be equipped with Citroen's unique adjusting chassis technology designed to further increased comfort for both driver and passengers. Other available features include hands-free access and start, touch-screen GPS, reversing camera, fully heated windscreen and air ionizer.
Buyers will have a choice of three petrol engines, the BMW Group and PSA co-developed THP 150 and 170, and the VTi 135, all of which can be linked to a new automatic or a sequential 6-speed transmission. All models are equipped with Stop/Start system.
