Citroen DS3:

The Citroen DS3 is the first in the new DS range that now has the DS4 and DS5 with the DS2 and  DS9 to follow.

The DS3 will revitalise the famous DS line that spanned a life from the 1950's to 1970's.

The hotly anticipated DS3 was first unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 2009. Like the original DS it comes with great performance and driver appeal. but with the emphasis more on sport and style.

Citroen has defiantly struck the perfect note with this little 3 door hot hatch as interest and sales have reached record levels with the 200,000 DS3 rolling of the production line in November 2012.

Citroen carefully watched other manufacturers as they developed small hatches with a more retro style, but opted for a more 21st century look. The DS3 is Citroen's entry into the premium supermini Segment and comes in 11 body colours and four roof shades. An extensive range of graphics for the roof including leopard print and polka dots plus the option of colour-coded alloys and door mirrors.

Even entry-level DSign cars get stability and cruise controls, along with electric front windows, DSport gets climate control, Bluetooth, 17-inch alloys, a rear spoiler, chrome side rubbing strips and aluminium pedals. Citroen is alsooffering a pre-paid servicing package for the DS3, which gives anextended warranty and covers the cost of servicing for three years.

For: A stylish and well-equipped supermini that delivers hot hatch pace and genuinely great to drive, especially DSport models.High quality feel.Great range of engines 1.6 THP 150 petrol engine with six-speed gear box gives 40-45mpg. 99g/km 1.6 diesel. wide range of customisation options,Good value for money.

Against: Legroom is a little tight compared to rivals, some exterior paint problems reported. A number corroded alloys reported. Not the best five-speed manual gearbox. six-speed is much better.

Citroen DS3 Cabrio:

Top down for the new DS3 Cabrio at the Paris Motor Show. Due to go on sale in the UK in early 2013 and is expected to cost around £2000 more than the standard DS3. The electric sliding fabric roof closes in just 16 seconds with three positions and the rear glass window folds down on top of the parcel shelf which can all be operated at up to 74mph. In keeping with the standard DS3  the roof can be ordered in a range of colours black, DS Monogram and Infinite blue. The blue top uses three different coloured threads one of which is shiny and gives a pearl look with each strand reacting to the sun light. With the Cabrio you lose just 40 litres of luggage space cutting it down to 245 litres. It has a rather clever boot lid that opens upwards instead of outwards, allowing it to be used in tight spaces. With an all new LED tail-light design inspired by the Survolte and Revolte concept cars. Citroen is promising the same strength and body rigidity as the hatchback helped by structural reinforcements around the boot. There are six available interior colours grey, Brilliant black, white, Carbotech, Infinite blue and Moondust grey. The instrument cluster and air conditioning controls get white lighting effect, with air vent surrounds and gear lever all colour coded to the exterior body colour, Citroen has a simple design for the Cabrio which means it only weighs 25kg more than the hatch. And with Britain being Europe's biggest market for convertibles and with the DS3 already generating sales of some 180,000 worldwide Citroen looks set fare to have another winner on their hands.

For: Clever User friendly electric sliding fabric roof which can be operated at up to 74mph. The boot stays easily accessible even with the roof down.

Against: Poor visibility With the roof down.
